If you are one of the lucky ones who will be able to witness this historic event, you might want to make sure that you do not get lost and confused especially with the big crowd expected. Here are some helpful tips:

  1. Arrive early. Do not fly in on the day itself if you do not want to be caught in the frenzy of the inauguration. Make sure that you have also made your hotel reservations and confirmed it before you head out.
  2. Use a map. If you are not familiar with the Washington DC area, it would be wise to explore the immediate vicinity before the event. At the same time, you might want to check out the local attractions.
  3. Buy Metro tickets/passes. According to the local police authorities, most of the streets will be congested and you will be able to move from one place to another if you take public transportation.
  4. Bring comfortable clothes and shoes. With all the excitement, you might want to make sure that you are wearing the right outfit including shoes. Even on regular days, the city is considered to be a “walking city” and you should be prepared to do a lot during this special day.
  5. Be patient. Instead of getting irritated with the large crowd, delays and long lines, you should just simply enjoy this important day in United States history.
