Hawaiian Airlines to Expand Service

If you’ve been considering taking that family trip to Hawaii, now may be as great time to start planning your travel. With the recent news that ATA airlines, a main source for flights to the Pacific Islands, has declared bankruptcy, one of the leading discount airlines for Hawaii travel, Hawaiian Air, has announced they will be expanding service starting next month. Hawaiian Air could be a great source for cheap airline tickets now that they control the market.

Making the move to capitalize on the gap in the market created by ATA’s bankruptcy, Hawaiian Air has announced that they will begin scheduling daily flights between Honolulu and Oakland, CA, a convenient airport for travelers from all regions of the country. Hawaiian Air is currently the most convenient way to fly to Hawaii, as they offer flights from the domestic U.S. to nine different locations on the islands, as well as several inter-island flights within Hawaii.

While some feel that less options for travelers may mean more expensive travel to Hawaii in the short term, ultimately Hawaiian Air will be able to offer lower cost flights now that they are the cornerstone of the market, and you can look for them to be finding ways to encourage travelers to fly with them. Many of the other options for flying to Hawaii, including Delta and Continental, are traditionally much more expensive.

In order to ensure that you’ll get a good price on cheap airfare to Hawaii, you can also look into midnight flights, or flying during the week in off hours instead of on the weekends. Since the flight to Hawaii is so long anyway, many travelers who choose to fly at night get a chance to rest up before arriving, and in the process find a great way to save money.
