Flying with Babies or Toddlers

Flying with babies or toddlers can be an engaging exercise. Whether it is changing diapers or keeping your kids quiet, the parents have a job on their hands during the flight. But, with some planning and preparation, you and your children can enjoy the flight without major hiccups.

When you are booking your seats either by the regular airlines or even some cheap airline tickets, double check the schedules and pick one which does not interfere with the normal sleeping hours of your child. Converse to what many believe, your child may not sleep while on the flight and potentially act fussy. And, if you are carrying an infant, it would be very convenient to have bulkhead seats as well as bassinet for your infant. Similarly, seats in the front portion of the plane tend to be inconvenient when you are travelling with infants and toddlers.

You can be on any kind of trip, on a Christmas vacation trip, or have grabbed a last minute vacation, but what you pack for your kids and yourself in the cabin baggage is important. Generally, it would not be a nice idea to count on goodies from the plane to keep your children engaged during the flight. If you are using cheap airline tickets, more often than not, they come without any frills. The regular flights too may not always have on board useful toys, when you need them. Therefore, the best way is to pack some from home. If you can find some that are unfamiliar to your kids or even new ones, kids will enjoy exploring them.

Food for your children, while on board is another area of concern. Of late, airlines tend to provide less food and even when they do, they may not have the right snacks for your kids. Make sure to pack enough snacks for the kids.

Finally, make doubly sure that your hotel accommodation at the destination is in place and ready for you when you arrive there. Also, keep the telephone numbers of a couple of car-rental people handy, just in case you need them.
