Not that the Caribbeans contributed to that in any manner. But, they could be among the worst affected for more reasons than one. The fuel price rise is hurting every one around the world, and the Caribbeans have more reasons to worry than that.
Airlines cut back the number of trips
The Caribbeans depend entirely on tourism to support the nation’s economy and most Americans depend on air services to be at the beaches filled with white-sand. Cheap airline tickets for destinations in the Caribbeans may be gone for some time at least. Lack of convenience and expensive airfare can discourage tourists from choosing family vacation packages to the Caribbean destinations. The agony is enhanced because all this come at a time when the Caribbeans are investing tons and tons of money in improving the existing infrastructure and creating more.
Favorite destination for many
The Caribbean islands are the favorite holiday destination for several people around the world, and more so, for the Americans. The major attractions like cruise vacations, cruise holidays, the Caribbean cruise all will suffer greatly if the air services drop the way it is happening now. Unlike in other tourist locations around the world, the Caribbean tourism has its share of peculiarities. Tourists need not just one flight taking them from their home town to another major Caribbean destination. They need connecting flights to move around different locations within the Island. Once this is uncertain, and the major concern would be getting tickets, not necessarily cheap airline tickets.
The Caribbeans are confident and so are some Airlines
In the middle of all these adversities, most Caribbeans are confident that tourists who have chosen great Christmas vacations or other packages will finally get a means to reach the Island. There is no dearth of enquiries for the oncoming Christmas season and the prices are not dropping either. As though to support their optimism, Jet Blue in fact is increasing the number of services when everyone else is reducing. For the present, if your are looking forward to be in the Caribbeans on a vacation, look for the tickets first, and consider whether cheap airline tickets can help you be there.
