Travel Tip: What to Pack
Most airlines today are cutting cost and upping fees and ticket prices in order to manage the increase in fuel prices. One of the new surcharges being imposed involves luggage. Some airlines charge their passengers extra for the first luggage checked in while others only impose extra fees on the second or third luggage. In any case, it will be best if you pack lightly to enjoy some savings.

For this reason, you must determine what to bring with you on your travel. Here are some helpful suggestions.
- Clothes – when packing your luggage, make sure that you only bring clothes that are practical, appropriate and comfortable. Seasoned travelers often make a list in order to properly plan the clothes they are going to bring with them. Consider the activities you will be engaged in as well as the climate.
- Accessories – it is not advisable for travelers to bring expensive jewelries and other valuables. If you do, you will be targeted by thieves and other individuals who prey on tourists. Aside from this, you will be in a better bargaining position with the locals while shopping if you are not wearing any precious accessories.
- Gadgets – considering today’s technology, there is no need for you to bring your laptop unless you are traveling for business. Most mobile phones are equipped with features that will allow you to still keep in touch with your family and business associates.
- Other Personal Items – keep in mind that your passport, credit cards and other important documents should be kept safe. Avoid putting them in your luggage and instead, choose to put them in your carry on. Most hotels have secure safety deposit boxes and you should utilize them as soon as you arrive. As for items like shampoo, lotion and make up, try to bring only the essentials. You can always use the hotel’s supply of toiletries.
